This Pentax 50mm f4 Macro-Takumar is a specialized 50mm lens designed in the M42 screw mount, primarily for the Pentax Spotmatic series of SLR cameras.
This early Macro-Takumar (note the lack of "Super" or "SMC" on the face ring) is an interesting lens. It features a preset aperture capable of f4-f22. It also is capable of 1:1 macro magnification. Later versions of this lens only achieved 1:2 ratios (half life size) and required additional extension tubes to get to 1:1. Because of this feature, its solid construction and the ease with which the M42 screw mount can be adapted to other lens mounts, the Macro-Takumar 50mm f4 is an excellent budget macro lens that has great optical performance.
